Job Summary

Provide direct supervision over a group of individuals and manufacture process to meet daily safety, quality, and production targets.  The ideal candidate must be competent and comprehend complex operations and efficiently respond to priorities.  He/She should also be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs. The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Meet daily and weekly production schedule. 
  • Oversee production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. 
  • Ensure that direct reports (floor assistant, line leaders, line workers, production support workers and operation mechanics) are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the department responsibilities and goals can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Communicate regularly with all filling and packing department employees, both individually and as a team, to ensure good two-way communication concerning job performance, priorities, coaching, progress and other issues.
  • Ensure the daily and correct documentation of cleaning/sanitization log books.
  • Address production problems as they arise, and communicate with respective departments in a prompt manner in order to resolve the issues.
  • Establish priorities to ensure production team to work most efficiently.
  • Verify availability and compliance of packing components according to BOM of products.
  • Prepares and coordinates the productions schedule for the labeling department.
  • Check manufacturing equipment and control points to ensure that efficient workflow is maintained.
  • Recruit, hire, and train new production workers to perform their duties.
  • Counsel and discipline production employees who fail to perform or violate company policies.
  • Make recommendations about ways to improve employee efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Responsible for employee shift schedule to include work assignments/rotations, training, vacations, breaks, overtime assignment and back-up for absent. 
  • Controls time and attendance of Production Personnel; and send report of approvals and labor hours of the temporary workers.
  • Be capable to conduct investigations on issues related to production quality and downtime and generate reports.
  • Ensure all manufacturing workers follow and ensure compliance on all Safety procedures, use of personal safety equipment and other as instructed.
  • Understanding of application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Complies with the Company’s Human Resources policies and procedures and promotes the awareness of and compliance with these policies.
  • Will be required to assist with production work during break and lunch periods, when needed.
  • Reports to Manufacturing Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and good documentation skills.
  • LEAN Manufacturing Practices skills would be an advantage.
  • Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).


Education required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 5 years experience in the cosmetic and personal care products industry.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • SAP system basic knowledge.
