We are seeking a Copy Editor who can bring all three of these elements to our Marketing Communications team and contribute to our creation of engaging, compelling messaging to our independent distributors and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of content for all external audiences, with a primary focus on communications to our independent distributors (Market Partners) but also targeting loyal customers (VIPs) and retail customers as needed. Work will include personally writing a high volume of content and editing/proofreading copy written by other team members and external contract writers. Content will be written for channels including marketing and promotional emails, e-newsletters, social media, training documents, infographics, video scripts, live presentations and others.
  • Collaborate with internal departments whose initiatives determine content, including Sales Promotions, Events & Incentive Trips, executive communications, Recognition, Charitable Efforts (MONAT Gratitude), MONAT Gear merchandise, Training & Development, Product Development and Marketing, and others as needed. Typical workflow involves receipt of briefs, brainstorming with team members, drafting copy for review, working with project managers and owners to obtain approvals, and preparing copy for submission to the Creative team for design.
  • Support “pop up” communications to Market Partner and customers by writing often-urgent notifications regarding operational or technical matters, including backorders, product substitutions, website functionality issues, and other miscellaneous topics.
  • Ensure all copy follows brand & voice standards and contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of those standards.
  • Collaborate with Creative team to ensure copy and design remain on-message and on-brand for our audiences.
  • Support the Director of Marketing Communications in determining copy and communications strategy for various projects.
  • Partner with social media and web teams to create and execute consistent, compelling, and effective multi-channel campaigns and other communications.
  • Support the overall quality and consistency of outgoing communications by proofreading, editing, and fact-checking content written by other team members.

Qualifications

  • Consistently high creativity in concept development and language, with a demonstrated ability to engage and compel an audience to act
  • Flawless grammatical and technical writing ability, with a vigilant eye for detecting and correcting errors, inconsistencies, and weak language
  • Proven expertise in articulating complex information in ways that are simple, compelling, and enjoyable to read
  • Genuine enthusiasm for collaborating and brainstorming with team members of all levels, respecting and considering diverse viewpoints and ideas
  • A can-do, problem-solving team spirit and a commitment to completing tasks, even when extra effort and hours are required to support our 24/7 business
  • Tremendous agility with a positive mindset in adapting to changes in direction and priorities typical of a highly dynamic environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5–8 years of professional copywriting experience for a direct sales company, an internal marketing department, advertising agency, or similar with solid portfolio of work
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an editorial role, supervising and proofreading the work of a copywriting team while also personally contributing copy
  • Beauty or direct sales industry experience is a plus
  • Exceptional writing skills for both B2B & B2C
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skill and multitasking ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro; proficiency in Mailchimp and similar platforms a plus
  • Proofreading experience and familiarity with standard style guides a plus
  • A keen eye for detail and appreciation of great design
  • Along with your application, please submit a portfolio or links to work samples that demonstrate the above abilities.
