Job Summary

As the Shipping Manager, you will be responsible to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the shipping department. You are responsible for coordinating the activities of employees engaged in shipping, storage and transportation. You will plan, organize, and monitor the shipping of all Domestic and International orders ensuring that orders are shipped in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement overall shipping strategy
  • Identify shipping issues and implement solutions in a timely manner
  • Managing and overseeing all Domestic and International shipments and determining shipping priorities and shipping methods required to meet schedules is key
  • Review and approve all documentation related to international shipments with a focus on US Customs and Border Protection
  • Create Bill of Ladings and coordinate shipments/freight pick-up when necessary
  • Assure timely preparation for shipment orders, including International Documentation and packaging of orders, with strong attention to detail
  • Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders
  • Stay current on changes to export control regulations
  • Ensure trucks are loaded per loading instructions and are loaded with the proper items
  • Resolve issues regarding shipped orders
  • Develop and conduct international shipping and export control training for relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure company-wide compliance to applicable export policies
  • Manage all important documents such as shipping notices, international documentation, pick slips, bills of lading
  • Responsible for making sure all proper documentation is in place when shipping dangerous goods material.
  • Make sure paperwork for shipped items are filed correctly in accordance with company standards
  • Manage daily workload planning and volume including forecasting, staff requirements as well as equipment/space needs
  • Maintain departmental output and efficiency by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising their output
  • Trains new staff in assigned duties, or delegates training responsibility to experienced team member. Assess progress of trainees, and adds additional duties as appropriate
  • Work with and support our Logistics Manager to ensure the scheduling deadlines are met for all international shipments.
  • Partner with the Logistics Manager in order to gain an understanding of the export documentation paperwork and the compliance expectations for all countries we support
  • Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with all levels of the organization
  • Use and enforce use of all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Comply with and enforce all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify and implement opportunities to improve processes
  • Lead and mentor hourly team members 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in warehousing, receiving, inventory control or materials management
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • SAP and Microsoft Office experience a plus
